AUDIT, DESIGN, SUPPLY, BUILD & MONITOR
We go a long way when it comes to occupational safety. To ensure the safety of workers and visitors, many industries often put in place the necessary safety equipment . Of all the possible security solutions, fire extinguishers are one of the most important.
There is no doubt that it is important to install firefighters that are best suited to your environment, it is also important to train staff on how to use firefighters in the first place.
The catastrophic effects of fire should not be underestimated. As a business owner, spending time doing risk assessments and identifying the most appropriate fire extinguishers for your business environment is important.
How many stages of fire are there and what are they?
No single fire extinguisher can handle all types of fires because they are available in different categories. This can be divided into six categories:
There are five types of fire extinguishers:
This should be a Class A fire that contains paper, wood, grass, coal, rubber, strong plastics, soft materials, and more. These fire extinguishers cool the flames by inserting them into water containers. This extinguishes the flames and absorbs heat from flammable materials.
You can use it in stores, offices, backyards, schools, hotels, warehouses, and backyards. These fire extinguishers are:
These are the newest type of fire extinguisher and are very powerful but small in size. This is safe and effective for Class A, B, C, and F fires. Also, these fire extinguishers can combat fire cases caused by electrical appliances up to 1000 volts.
These tools work to cool the fire and reduce oxygen. These are also effective and do not contain any chemicals, and can sometimes be used in D fires.
Water-Spray Fire Extinguisher
These fire extinguishers are available in three- or six-litres water tanks and are suitable for fires involving solid living materials such as wood, cloth, paper, plastic or coal.
They use the jet under the flames to keep it afloat and to keep it afloat. It creates a good spray with high pressure and extinguishes the fire.
This smoothens the fire with solids and liquids (Class A, Class B) but does not apply to heating oil or cooking oil. There are several types of foam fire extinguishers that can be used in electric fires. Foam fire extinguishers are easier to clean and more expensive than water extinguishers.
Dry Powder Extinguishers
For Class A, B, and C fires caused by high temperatures, liquids, and gases, these fire extinguishers are the best choice. These are designed to deal with type D fires as well.
They work by the powder forming that smothers the fire and stops it from spreading. These fire extinguishers are generally inexpensive and powerful.
CO2 fire extinguishers
These devices contain compressed carbon dioxide only and are suitable for use in fires involving combustible liquids (Class B), and electric fires. They do not damage electrical equipment or start short circuits.
However, CO2 fire extinguishers are very cold during extraction and are not suitable for deep fryers.
Wet Chemical Extinguishers
These fire extinguishers produce water ash and are best suited for Class F. fires. These are mainly used in the kitchen both personal and professional. You can also use it in a Class A and Class B fire even though it is less effective in these fires. These devices contain a compressed solution of alkaline salt in the water and create a fine mist that can cool the flames, and prevent splashing.
How Can You Choose a Perfect Fire Extinguisher?
There are different types of fire extinguishers. Therefore, you need to think carefully before fighting any kind of fire.
When choosing a fire extinguisher, it is also important to keep in mind the size of the room and how quickly a fire can spread throughout. 10-pound fire extinguishers are ideal for warehouses, spaces, and workshops where dangerous equipment can be stored.
Remember - safety comes first! See if this can remove the heat and whether it is good to deal with a fire or not. These should not conduct electricity and can be used on flammable liquids like petrol or solvents. These are some of the most important things you should know about a fire extinguisher
